Your stories: the wedding of Roberta and Fabio

How do you organize a traditional wedding? But first, I take a step back, what makes "traditional" a wedding? Thanks to my shoes I meet many brides and there are many clients who tell me about their experience. Many strike me and I have always wanted to tell you the story of them: when I received Roberta's photos I decided to start with her.

A wedding is always an exciting day like few others. On this occasion, the spouses are keen to communicate their story through every detail, they pay attention to every moment, every step, so that it can be memorable for the guests and for the couple.
For Roberta I made a custom shoe, the Blue, in gold and cream shades. She had a very specific request: her shoes had to adapt to the dress, already peculiar in itself, and be comfortable to support her in the walk through the cobbled paths that would accompany her to church.
Roberta and Fabio have chosen to break the mold, in every respect.

This is their story.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Roberta, born in 1985. I was born in a small mountain village, in the middle of Valsesia, where traditions echo more than ever, in the tales of the grandmothers, in the tolling of the bells that mark every hour of the day, in the corners of the various paths with fountains, wash houses and sacred chapels. It must be said that, at a certain point, these boundaries turned out to be a bit narrow, so much so that, also thanks to my studies, I chose to "descend" from that single point of observation and put myself in I play in other experiences, among which the most extraordinary took me to Nicaragua. Today I am a pediatrician, passionate about clinical research and involved in the research doctorate project. I work in the city, but I often return to the “fold” of my origins, with Fabio at my side, also fascinated by my village and its stories.
If I had to tell you something about us, of our couple, I could answer like this: you know those films in which the protagonist participates in almost all the weddings of her friends, strictly in a single state, and in the end she meets her He, in the best man, as well as the twin brother of a loved one friend of the times of the University, who has not seen in a lifetime? Here you are, for us it went just like that! I had met Fabio at least ten years earlier, but for the same time there had been no more meeting opportunities. Today, it makes us smile to think how true Sàndor Màrai's expression is: "two people cannot meet even one day, before they are ripe for their meeting"(Enough to insert it ad hoc in our Church booklet).

Honestly, I had never imagined my wedding day before meeting Fabio. What is certain is that, since we chose to take the path of "Yes, I do", we are committed to making that day in early October reflect us as much as possible without letting ourselves be influenced by the "fashions" or the "themes" of the moment. And this is how the idea of wanting spontaneously arose an "old-fashioned" wedding, or in which it is the bridegroom who goes to pick up his bride from the house, to walk together, accompanied by families, to the main church; but it is also the bride with her father who is the first to cross the threshold of the Church, welcomed by friends and relatives at her entrance and accompanied by bridesmaids in typical Valsesian costume. Also my "not" wedding dress it did not follow the most classic lines, but recognized in every detail the elements of tradition with the insert of the Valsesian puncetto, an inevitable dowry of every bride of the time. For this I have to thank in particular the seamstress, Rosalba Girgenti by Greta Spose, who with extreme skill and imagination managed to realize my ideas by creating an original and one-of-a-kind dress.

The whole combined perfectly with the philosophy of the Venus slipper, a brand I fell in love with on one of our trips, in the Marche region, in Sirolo. Alice has in fact managed to develop a pair of shoes with a refined and practical touch, especially for use in the cobbled streets of the town. The ceremony then continued in a beautiful farmhouse overlooking Lake Viverone, Variselle estate in Roppolo, among the rows of blueberries and grapevines, which we reached aboard a red vintage FIAT 500, put back on track for the occasion after years of storage. Using the wine theme, also present in the decorations of the Church with grape shoots combined harmoniously with simple ones inserts of berries and heather in pink and white, we wanted to keep faith once again to one of our traditions. In fact, the choice fell precisely on the wine since, also naming the tables of our guests with the names of wines, we were able to retrace the stages of our outings with the glasses savored on each of our precious occasions.

Difficult to define that 5 October 2019, however an attribute that we have often mentioned, sometimes joking with our guests, is "vintage", Having wanted to revive a rites and traditions of other times. Among other things, vintage derives from the old French meaning i in a generic sense fine vintage wines, certainly not a random choice for us.
PS: The wonderful photos were made by Davide Verrecchia - Lavezzo Studios.
