I've always talked about good intentions, because at the end of the year it always comes naturally.
Galvanized from the beginning of a new chapter of our life we put on paper what we would like to be, what we would like to do in the next 12 months. The new year seems like a big blank page in which to write down all the wonderful things we will do, without making excuses.
Too bad that enthusiasm is not reflected in practice.
We draw up lists that are too high, too ambitious, too impracticable, so in December of the following year we are left with the frustration of not having ticked even one of those good intentions on the list.
I did it too, at work and in my personal life.
But not this year. First of all, I focused on what I built, and not on what I failed to do. And then I set my goals, and not good intentions, because between the two there is a planning that leads to realization.

One year to build
2021 was a year in which I faced my biggest fears, and at the same time I found the courage to take the path I dreamed of. I closed the shop in Bologna, now home to me, but I opened others, even if only for a short time. I have set up a new strategy, that of "pop-up stores", which immediately allows me to reach more people at a sustainable cost.
I went to Bologna and then to Milan, where I met customers and friends of La Scarpetta who only met online. It was a very beautiful moment, which allowed me to make further reflections.
I started producing less and better. Not yet as much as I would like, but enough to change a system that is hurting both those who produce and those who consume. I launched the first limited edition micro-collections, producing only in pre-order to avoid waste.
I created new relationships, healthy and authentic, starting with a shoe. Or simply sharing my thoughts on a topic that is close to my heart.
I have taken courses, many courses, dedicating time that I thought I did not have to my professional growth. And this is bringing value to my company and its organization.

What do we want to do in 2022?
So after reflecting on the good things we had achieved over the last few months, Gian Luca and I took pen and paper and drafted our concrete goals for this 2022.
We looked each other in the eyes, and the first goal we wrote was not just about our work, but about our life in general.
I have always reproached my parents for having thought more about work than about enjoying daily moments of tranquility with us children. That "suffering" that sounds so much from the Marche was exactly what my parents did: sacrifice themselves every day for work.
Today, however, both Gian Luca and I realized that we are following exactly the same pattern. Unintentionally - and perhaps inevitably - we have been overwhelmed by production needs, which lead us to spend most of our days in the factory or - in my case - on the phone.
At the same time, however, we both feel another need, which we want to listen to: the will to change when we recognize aspects that can affect the balance between family, work and the environment in which we live.
Is there a key to doing all this in balance with other living beings and respecting the environment? Just thinking about it, putting ourselves there to write made us reflect.
Ours is not an independent reasoning from the world economic, political and social context: global changes, such as climate change or pollution, and pandemics, perhaps linked to the changes that man himself is responsible for, can no longer be ignored in the organization of a company.
We have a certainty: systems change and will continue to change faster and faster, and we want to live them, rather than adapt. We don't want to be overwhelmed, we want them to become a pretext to accelerate our evolution to get closer and closer to that idea of new artisans that we have in mind.
We are therefore convinced that improving the quality of our life and of our collaborators, working with passion and in greater balance with time, resources and waste can be the most important step by step.

The 2022 objectives of La Scarpetta di Venere
Our goal for 2022 is to start improving the quality of productive, personal and environmental life and this progressively and inevitably passes through production efficiency.
Working on this allows you to cut costs and maintain an adequate profit, but also at the same time to improve La Scarpetta di Venere over time, namely:
- to achieve an adequate company organization
- make energy use more efficient
- reduce the waste of materials that always and only derive from ecosystems
- reduce returns, synonymous with waste of time, materials and resources
- reduce warehouse stocks
- grant us and our collaborators an extra hour to devote to someone else or to others.
We are reflecting on the word "value", to pass it on to you in the best possible way.
The value of a gesture, of the time dedicated to the product, of the story behind the company, of the raw materials: how can we tell it?
It will be the weather to guide us, and we are not just talking about the concept of slowness, but the natural rhythm of things. We want to convey to each customer the sense of time intended as a cure that allows growth and gives beauty to things, a necessary time that allows you to regain well-being. Human and professional.
So, get to work right away! We are already committed to the new design and we can't wait to start showing you the first results of this small revolution that is born in our house.
And you?
How do you want to improve your world this year?
What concrete goal do you want to achieve?
Write to me and tell me!
